STUCO.
The Student
Council of Father Duenas Memorial School (FDMS) is a
student-run organization that consists of a president,
vice president, secretary, and treasurer. These
individuals are elected into office during the month
of May in the preceding school year.
Additionally,
members of the Student Council consists of two
homeroom representatives who are elected by their
respective homeroom during September. Thus,
membership into the Student Council depends primarily
upon student-run elections.
Members of the
Student Council should exhibit leadership,
responsibility, and organizational skills. They
should function as role models and follow the rules
outlined by the school.
The Student
Council acts as a bridge that relates concerns, ideas,
and proposals, to the administration of the school,
or vice versa.
Additionally,
the function of the Student Council is to act as the
main organization on campus whose responsibility is
to oversee the other cubs and organizations, as well
as to propose measures that will benefit the overall
student body. The Student Council is responsible to
organize activities, sponsor masses and programs that
are in the best interest of the student population.
Moreover, the Student Council functions as the
governing body of the student population.
B.
INTERSCHOLASTIC PROGRAM
FDMS
participates in the interscholastic programs (sponsored
by Department of Education). These programs include
academic activities (Mock Trial, Forensics, Academic
Challenge Bowl, Debate, etc.) as well a athletic
activities (Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis,
Golf, Track, etc). Parents are encouraged and invited
to get involved in these activities to give the
school teams financial and moral support. In order to
participate, students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0
and no failing grades.
Student
athletes must care for all sports equipment provided
them by the school. They are also responsible for
returning them to the P.E. department. Students who
fail to care for and return their equipment are
liable for its cost. Payment should be made to the
Business Office.
C.
STUDENT ORGANIZATION
Organizations
of students must have the approval of both the
Student Council of FDMS and the principal. Each
organization must have a faculty advisor or moderator.
The treasurer
of any organization collecting funds must use the
procedure established by the Business Office. Money
collected by student organizations must be deposited
with the Business Office the same day before leaving
the campus.
D.
MASS, SPIRITUAL ASSEMBLIES, AND OTHER ASSEMBLIES
All FDMS
students are required to attend Mass. Students are
required to wear full uniforms in assemblies (no
shorts).
Food, drink,
or gum are not allowed during Mass.
Participation
in assemblies is mandatory.
Absence or
tardiness from an assembly will be subject to
appropriate discipline.
Assemblies are
part of the school program and attendance is required.
Students are to be courteous at all times. Students
sit by the homeroom teacher and are directly
supervised by the homeroom teacher.
