STUDENT SERVICES

A. LIBRARY

The students are encouraged to use our library unless they lose the privilege by breaking the library rules. The library, which is intended for research and serious study, is open from 7:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. At other times, students should see the librarian.

An item may be checked out from the library for two weeks and may be renewed once. Overdue items are charged at the rate of 25 cents a day, including weekends and holidays. A lost item must be paid for in full.

Catalog cards should not be removed from the file; call number should be copied on a slip of paper. Reference books and magazines may not be taken out of library.

Photocopying service for students is also done in the library for a fee. Computers and printers are provided for student use in accordance with library policy. Food and drinks are never permitted in the library.

Library privileges may be suspended if a student fails to use the library's facilities with respect.

B. COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE

Father Duenas Memorial School employs a guidance counselor who meets with students during the course of the school year. Additional help is provided through the trained expertise of the priests and nuns who work at Father Duenas, and who are available for counseling and for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

C. COLLEGE ADVISOR

FDMS is a college preparatory school. The school designates a faculty member to act as college advisor whose main responsibility is to help facilitate the admission of our Juniors and Seniors into colleges and universities of their choice, and also to guide them in seeking financial help and loans for college studies.

The college advisor is also responsible for coordinating college recruiting visits (as FDMS is a college preparatory school).

Students seeking admission into the college(s) of their choice will be required to obtain letters of recommendation which will evaluate his academic standing and citizenship.

D. BUSINESS OFFICE

The Business Office oversees the financial activities of the school. The Business Office also receives and records payment of tuition and other applicable fees from students or parents.

Tuition is paid in ten equal payments due the 15th of the month from August through May. Late fee will be charged for any payment received after the 15th. Arrangements may be made for quarterly payments. Full-year tuition paid by July 31 is given a 5% discount. Payment can be made in the form of checks, cash, or credit cards.

In the case of withdrawal or expulsion, four (4) instructional days require a full month tuition payment.

In addition, there is a graduation fee for Seniors. This fee covers 25 announcements, 1 box (100) name cards, cap, tassel, gown, diploma, and diploma cover. The graduation fee also covers the expenses of the graduation ceremony.

A listing of scheduled payments to the Business Office for the current school year is found on the pre-registration and registration forms.

The school makes every effort to help the students and parents with their financial obligations. However, all students who are in arrears in their tuition payments for more than two months are withdrawn from school.

If a student account becomes delinquent and the services of a collection agent becomes necessary, the cost of collection, legal fees and a 7% interest fee will be assumed by the parents.

The Business Office makes disbursements of students funds on the signature of the student treasurer and the faculty advisor of the organization, and the principal/assistant principal.

E. REGISTRAR'S OFFICE

The Registrar manages all student records (report cards, health records, etc.). Request for a transcript and other pertinent documents have to be directed to this office. Payments for transcripts must be made to the cashier prior to the request. Transcript requests and other document requests may require a processing fee.

F. CAFETERIA

Father Duenas Memorial School employs the services of a catering firm to serve food during breakfast, break, and lunch periods. Students may bring their lunch from home, or they may buy lunch from the caterer. Students may not buy food on credit.

Food and drink must be consumed in the cafeteria only.

Students are expected to line up in an orderly fashion and wait their turn to be served. Failure to do so may result in the student being denied access to the catering service.

Students must keep the cafeteria clean by properly disposing of their own trash.

Students are not allowed to order lunch to be delivered to the school without the permission of the principal. FDMS does not issue lunch passes. In the case of special school events, parents may be asked to provide a pot-luck dish and deliver it to the school.
